The Dhammissara is a uniquqn college in puttlam district, chilaw educational zone, is spreading its glory through the overseas.
The history of Dhammissara is going back as 1913.it is believed that Dhammissara was placed closed to the oil mill which is situated at Nattandiya Walahapitiya main road.
It is found out that around 15 students at the begging named” Anjlo vernecilar”, That school was commenced as a convert later, school was shifted to the new building(Now in primary building).
Science no of student increased school was named” Government Bilingual School ”.
In 1930 The School was turned into mixed school. In 1953,there were 183 students.
As far as the students are concerned” The Golden erra” of thye achool was begun with coming of the principal Mr. Duglas Bogahalanda,.
It is assumed that in1958again named was changed in the name of”Nattandiye Rajaye Maha Vidyalaya”
A/L exam held in 1960was very vital to the school since two students were selected to the university after getting through the exam with flying colors, non of the student got the chance of getting selected the university in puttlam district. This is lion mark of the school history.
1955- Science Section was stared after Sumana Abesinha was being selected.
1956- Saman edirisignha won the Bhudda Jayanthi Oratory competition in first time.
1958- School was promoted to a “Maha Vidyalaya”
Ven Medhanandha Thero wrote a school anthem, composed by Mr. Jayarathne.
Stared at A/L class in same year.
1960- Student was selected to the university first time in school history.
1963- School was renamed to “Dhammissara”
1968- 18 out of22 student got the opportunity to attend the university admissions.
1978- For the for the first time ella champion ship was won under 19 team.
1982- Status of the school was promoted ”Madya Maha Vidyalaya”
1985- Mr. Kirthi Jayesekara was selected to the national volley ball team.
1991- Stared the School old Student Association.
1994- Status of the school was promoted ” National College ”
2004- School Valley Ball team made aunbreakble record in the school valley history of Sri Lanka 5champian ship and one runner up.
2008- School Bus Donated by School Old student Association
